Columbia US Concert Tour 2009

Derek Gleeson is currently developing a 50 concert tour in the US in 2009, sponsored by Columbia Records and featuring several different classical programs. Half of each program will include newly composed works by Irish composers involved in the STI/UCLA film scoring program. Each composer must compose several works, with the likelihood that at least one work from each composer will be performed in several of the concerts.

To this end I am currently composing two works – Buntus na hEireann (The Origin of Ireland) which will be a high tempo and dynamic contemporary orchestral piece and featuring Bodhran and Uilleann Pipes. The second piece will be called Tir na nOg and will be written as an orchestral, lyrical song without words.
